Does anyone remember Prompt Engineering, Prompt Optimization, Proompting, Retrieval-Augmented Generation(RAG), chunking, vectorization, model fine-tuning, zero-shot learning, knowledge graphs, Machine Learning, and AutoML? There is firehose of AI info and I just wasn’t that thirsty to compete with Anthropic, Google, and Microsoft to work on the early versions. There was some occasional FOMO, but my home-brewed ChatGPT wrapper was unlikely to be better than Apple’s.
It seems like the tools are mature enough now to keep the science “under the hood” and let me be solution-focused with my projects. I’ll dip my foot back into the pool and see where it helps me. Note-taking and transcribing: yes please. Rewriting my entire project because the latest model got trained on more React than Angular: no, thank you.
We still dig holes with shovels. I don’t want to cross-shop half a dozen agents every time I start a new project. Linus and Marques Brownlee just dropped new YouTube videos because Claude’s new dot one version rocks or sucks?! Um, okay. I’ll work with the tools and skills I have, and revisit the new stuff about every six months. Hang in there, everyone. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
I have just the right Agent to automate your loop of circling back every 6 months. DM me for the monthly subscription rates!
If you can't build it in Notepad or vim, you can't build it.
That's a bit more fine-grained than I would go, but you do you!
I can read between the lines. I understand why you didn't directly say you're avoiding AI because of its sinsister nature and desire to wipe out humanity.
Whoa, Fallon! There's a lot of daylight between my cautiously optimistic take and AI-pocalypse.
